Covering Rape Apology
Feministe has a rape apology post up about how coverage of rape trials are prejudiced towards the accused.

But the coverage is often unavoidably prejudicial the other way. While the accuser’s identity is (understandably and necessarily) protected, we see b-roll of the defendant solemnly arriving at the courthouse in an understated suit and being mobbed by a throng of reporters while the charges against him are outlined by the newscaster. He doesn’t speak on his lawyer’s orders. Mug shots surface. He seems…guilty.

Nice comments too. We've got the "harm of false accusations" and "we can't make any judgments until the jury decides what happened" covered and questioning whether the victim's testimony counts as evidence.

What site is this again?

The same one it's been for years.

I want to blow up at multiple people on that thread, but I won't. I also wish I was shocked that people shut down discussion of race (and that there wasn't much of a mention of class, at all). I don't think I've ever seen a famous white man accused of rape not having the media on his side.

Or any mention that the reason there may not be any criminal charges being that the DA's office refuses to bring them. Or the fact that neither a financial ruling or jail time is likely to stop him from raping again, because 99 out of 100 rapists rape a second time. There was a little bit of hinting from a couple people that the courts don't work for rape (which should be shortened "the courts don't work") but no one brought up anything about another way to handle this, and anything positive said was still just reformism toward the legal system.

I think I only read Feministe to get myself angry and remember how much of difference there is between my [anarchist/anti-civ] politics and progressive and liberal politics.

That said, I can't think of a good group blog that is anarchafeminist or even non-transphobic radical feminist, they're all either reformist, liberal feminist blogs like feministe, or super transphobic (and [even more] racist, classist, ablist [than feministe]) radfem blogs.
